Mary Ann Greenwood was the daughter of Henry Greenwood and Ruth Wright who were living at Collier Row, Queensbury, Yorkshire. She was born at home on the 17 January 1876. She was the fifth of Henry and Ruth’s ten children born between 1817 and 1838.

Mary Ann never married (unmarried on all the census returns). The father of her son Joseph Greenwood has been identified as Edmund Warburton. It seems likely that he was the father of all her children but this would need further cousin DNA matches to confirm this.

On the 6 June 1841, she was living with Henry, Ruth and her siblings (except for George who had married and left home) and her daughter at New Harrogate, Queensbury. Mary Ann is a power loom weaver.
Mary Ann had two further children:
33.2 Albert Greenwood (1844 – 1901), and
33.3 Sarah Greenwood (1847 – ).
By 30 March 1851 all the family had moved to Sharket Head, Queensbury, (near Lane Top). Mary Ann is still a power loom weaver.

33.4 Amelia Greenwood (1854 – 1925) at Low Top, Queensbury, and
33.5 Fred Greenwood (1860 – ).
Having moved there by 1854, at 7 April 1861 Mary Ann is living with her parents Henry and Ruth at Lane Top, Queensbury and her children Isabella, Albert, Amelia and Fred. Mary Ann is a power loom worsted weaver.
Mary had two further children
16.0 Joseph Greenwood born 1862, and
33.6 Ruth Ann Greenwood born 1867.
Her parents, Henry and Ruth, both died during 1864.
By the 2 April 1871 Mary Ann was the head of the household at Low Fold, Queensbury, living with her children Amelia, Fred, Joseph and Ruth Ann at the dwelling adjacent to her brother George Greenwood and his family (as listed on the 1871 census) . Mary Ann is a weaver.
By the 3 April 1881 Mary Ann had stopped employed work (now a house keeper). She is still living at Low Fold with Fred, Joseph and Ruth Ann. Amelia moved out in about 1876 having married an Arthur Bartle.
Mary Ann died on 23 July 1886, age 60, at Shargate Head, Queensbury of cirrhosis ascites in the presence of her daughter Amelia.
